Home / Case Study / If Kejriwal stays here, problems are expected to increase
What is interesting to note is that 6, Flagstaff Road, has never been the official residence of Delhi chief ministers in the past. In the past 30 years, Delhi has seen five chief ministers and all the CMs stayed in different residences. Since there is no designated CM residence as of now in Delhi, it is not necessary that future CMs will use the same bungalow as their official residence, Arvind Kejriwal got embroiled in controversies by getting it constructed.. Here's a look at the historical background of all the CM residences so far in Delhi.
In 1993, Delhi was given a special status among Union territories. The first CM of Delhi after the new system came into existence was Madan Lal Khurana was allotted 33, Shamnath Marg as the official CM residence. The bungalow was quite close to the Old Delhi Secretariat, which is also known as Delhi Vidhan Sabha.
The residence was considered a haunted house and there were stories that none who lived in that bungalow could complete their tenure in the office. Despite these haunted house theories, Madan Lal Khurana accepted this bungalow as his official residence as he did not believe in such rumours. In 1996, the Jain Hawala case came to light and Madan Lal Khurana had to resign. This resignation once again put the haunted house debate at the fore.
When Sahib Singh Verma took over as the Chief Minister of Delhi, he was allotted a new bungalow: 9-Shamnath Marg. Earlier located a few hundred meters away from the CM residence, its structure and architecture was similar to that of 33, Shamnath Marg. Sahib Singh Verma hardly lived at his official residence.
Sheila Dikshit came to power after Sushma Swaraj's very brief stint as Delhi's third chief minister. Sheila Dikshit was allotted an official residence at 17, AB, Mathura Road, where she lived during her first 5-year term as Chief Minister. Sheila Dixit had to face many controversies and tensions during her stay in it. This is the same flat which was later allotted to Manish Sisodia when he became the Deputy CM of Delhi and is now allotted to Atishi. You know that Manish Sisodia is currently in jail. but Sheila Dikshit decided to change it. Sheila Dikshit shifted her residence to 3, Motilal Nehru Marg in November 2004. The Type-VIII bungalow with 5 bedrooms and a spacious lawn was his residence for almost nine years. This abode is better than all the previous abodes. This house has been allotted to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
In this background, the recent revelation regarding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's official residence is very interesting. Despite tall promises that he would lead a simple life if elected chief minister, he spent Rs 45 crore of taxpayers' money on his official home. The allegations said that Rs 8.11 crore was also spent on Kejriwal's camp office located in the government housing complex. Arvind Kejriwal has faced serious allegations of corruption and controversies regarding the bungalow.
If we analyze the new Chief Minister's residence of Delhi from the point of view of Vastu Shastra, then it is clear that Arvind Kejriwal will have to face more troubles ahead. The Aam Aadmi Party is cleverly saying in front of the media that all the expenditure has been incurred in renovating the old Chief Minister's residence, whereas the reality is that the old Chief Minister's residence has been completely demolished and a new building has been constructed for the Chief Minister's residence.
There was a cut in the north-east of the old Chief Minister's residence and the north-west and south-southeast parts of the building were extended. Also the west and southwest parts of the building had more open space than the east and northeast. In the first term, Kejriwal may have got the new building constructed only after being troubled by these Vastu defects, but many Vastu defects are still present. The construction of this building was started in the middle of 2020 i.e. during the Corona period. Although now the east side of the new building has more open space than the west as the old building has been removed. Now the north-west part of the campus is forward, whereas earlier it was isolated. The direction that affects the politicians the most is North-West. Due to this defect, now the person living in it will have a permanent relationship with controversies. Interconnection between the Chief Minister's residence and the Chief Minister's office is also a big flaw in itself. The west southwest of the Chief Minister's residence complex is also extended, which indicates that the income of the person living here will indirectly become a reason for condemnation and the company of wrong people will continue to create new problems one way or the other.
The north-east of the Chief Minister's office building is also disappearing and the east-northeast of the boundary wall of the premises has also decreased, which makes it clear that the reputation of the person working here will always be at stake. One can say that Arvind Kejriwal has become the Chief Minister twice, then what is wrong with Vastu defects? Due to luck, Kejriwal has definitely become the Chief Minister twice but he will not get the prestige with which he started his political journey and started dreaming of becoming the Prime Minister. Whenever the time comes even a little bit opposite from astrological point of view, then these Vastu defects will show their true form.
